Will the Battery test work on all vehicles?

The Battery test will work on vehicles which support the test. Not all vehicles will support this feature.

Why do the Monitor icons continue to flash?

The I/M MONITOR STATUS icons represent systems that are being tested by your vehicle for any possible faults. Monitors are special computer programs used by the vehicle’s computer to verify proper operation of specific emissions-related components or systems (Oxygen Sensor, Catalytic Converter, EGR Valve, Fuel System, etc.) to ensure their proper operation. If a Monitor icon is flashing; it indicates the associated system monitor is still being tested by the vehicles computer. A Monitor will not complete until the proper set of conditions are met for it to complete a drive cycle. When a Monitor icon is solid, it indicates the associated Monitor has completed its testing. A “Drive Cycle” is when the vehicle is driven through the necessary conditions during a single trip or multiple subsequent trips for the self-diagnosis to complete. You need to complete a full drive cycle for each of the monitors to complete its testing. Once the Drive Cycle finishes testing the system monitor you will receive a solid icon. In order to complete a “Drive Cycle” the vehicle must be able to start and run for the self-diagnosis to complete. Please refer to a vehicle service manual or owner’s manual for more information on the necessary conditions needed to perform the self-diagnosis and testing.

Will the 3130e save the last vehicle scanned?

Yes. The 3130e will save Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) & Live Data from the 3 previously scanned vehicles.

Why doesn’t the Scan Tool power up on my vehicle?

This condition indicates that power is not being supplied to the #16 pin of the vehicle’s Data Link Connector (DLC), and is usually caused by a blown fuse. You should check the condition of all fuses, but the defective fuse will most often be associated with a system that has power at all times, such as the cigarette lighter, horn or dome lights.

What extra features does the software offer?

The Pc link software will allow you to connect the Code Reader to a PC and transfer the information retrieved from your vehicle’s computer. It will allow you to create a basic report that provides you with the code, code definitions, freeze frame data and if available possible causes for the DTC's.  You can also purchase a premium membership, this will give you access to Verified Fixes for codes, Predicted Vehicle Repairs based on the current mileage, and access to our full library of do it yourself videos.

What can I use the DLC locator feature for?

The Data Link Connector (DLC) locator tool is used to located the OBD-II connector in your vehicle.

Why does my Alternator test keep on restarting itself?

If the Alternator test keeps on restarting please make sure the RPMs are being kept slightly above 2000 while performing the test.

Will the Oil reset feature work on all vehicles?

The OBD-II port reset procedure applies to select vehicles. However, manual reset instructions will be provided for most vehicles.

Where can I get code definitions for the codes I retrieved if definitions are not available through the Scan Tool?

Definitions for all available DTCs (both Generic and Manufacturer-specific) can be accessed through the Innova website (www.innova.com). Go to the "Support" tab, then choose DTC Library and follow the on-screen instructions for a definition.

Does the 3130e retrieve SRS codes?

No. The 3130e will not retrieve SRS codes. Please refer to our SRS capable diagnostic tools for this feature.

Will the 3130e retrieve OEM Enhanced codes?

Yes. The 3130e has the ability to retrieve OEM Enhanced codes when available. However, these codes will not provide Freeze Frame data or transfer to our online Repair Solutions.

What do the Green and Red Monitors/Circles mean?

Green solid Monitors indicate systems your vehicle has tested and found no issues with. Red blinking Monitors indicate systems the vehicle is still testing for potential issues, it does not necessarily mean there is an issue with those systems at this time.

Does this Scan Tool have “bi-directional” features?

Yes. All of Innova’s Scan Tools will offer bi-directional functions.
