If the vehicle is OBD2 certified, our scan tools will support that vehicle. You can check your Vehicle Emissions Control Information label (VECI) under the hood of your vehicle to verify if your vehicle is OBD2 certified.

Our scan tools can help you repair your vehicle. Our scan tools will provide thorough code descriptions to point you in the right direction. There is a free supplemental app (RS2) that can be used on a smart device along with your scan tool to provide repair information and predicted repairs. You can even schedule and reserve a slot with RepairPal to have your vehicle repaired through the RS2 app as well.

Innova scanners are made for vehicles sold in the US and Canada.  So if your vehicle has an OBD2 port and is similar to a vehicle sold in the US, the scanners will work.

However the app will only work on cars currently in the US or Canada.

Our scan tools are easy to update and are free. The updates are done on a PC or Mac.  Simply download and install the OBD Tool Updater, launch the OBD Tool Updater, then connect your scan tool with a USB data cable to initiate the “Update” tab. You may have seen some scanners already advertising they have updates for next years vehicles and wonder why we're behind.

It is because we're an authentic data licenser of OEM data and we follow the rules.  Most other scanner businesses are not getting their data legally/lawfully.

OEMs will release updates for manufacturer specific scan tools in anticipation for new vehicle releases, so they supply updates for their $20,000+ scanners before the new cars hit the market, then months or years later they release how to do the same for aftermarket businesses like Innova.

Unethical scanner companies hack OEM scanners to put that data into their products, which they then sell to Americans as subscription updates.  Which is how they're able to get their updates out quickly.

Regardless of how it is spun by 3rd party site (many of which were bought and paid for by the defendants) - read the original claim for the lawsuits - it usually goes like this

"Ford claims that ... obtained access to Ford's proprietary automobile-diagnostic software, hacked it, copied proprietary information, and pasted that information into ... own diagnostic software."

If you buy one of these unethical scanners, you run the risk of having your scanner bricked anytime.
 
In comparison, Innova has never been sued by a vehicle manufacturer despite selling the most scan tools by number and being one of the earliest diagnostic scanner companies in USA.

Since Innova is an aftermarket supplier, we wait for manufacturers to release their info for the aftermarket.  From their documentation, we then digest this massive amount of information on new vehicles, and engineer and verify the 1000s of features / function on each new vehicle.  

To make your updating experience as simple as possible, we provide one large update to cover all makes and models each year.  So we have to digest, engineer, and test all the vehicles included in that update and that takes time.

This is a huge engineering effort that takes nearly a 100 dedicated engineers and field testers to carry out.  This why scanners that do more than scan read / erase codes usually charge for their updates.

Our scan tools are plug-and-play right out of the box. They never need to be charged or even use batteries. All of our scan tools power on through the vehicle’s accessory fuses. Simply connect the OBD2 cable to your vehicle’s OBD2 port, turn the ignition to the ON position, and once the scan tool finishes reading the vehicle’s protocols, communication will be established with any trouble codes stored in the vehicle’s memory displayed on the screen with descriptions.

This rating is taken from Amazon which we think people will trust more than ratings on our site.

Amazon presents a unique challenge.  We discovered that somewhere near 80% of negative ratings were due to concerns similar to "it didn't work on my car" or "they promised this feature and didn't deliver".

Now those people aren't wrong.  And the same time, we're not over promising.  The tool will what it claims to do.   It just happens that due to how every vehicle is built differently by each manufacturer, it can't do 100% of its features on 100% of vehicles on the road.  

So that's why we built our coverage / vehicle compatibility checker.  So you can definitively know what works on your car.  Unfortunately, Amazon will not let us put our checker on their website, will not let us link to it, and will not let us tell people go to our site and look for it. 

With just 7 'elements' to pitch our product on Amazon, we recognize the significance of users conducting product research directly on the platform. Consequently, we prioritize utilizing these limited elements to effectively educate users about the benefits our tool can offer.

Even so, it remains insufficient. Seven elements is barely enough to accommodate even 20% of the content found on this page.

Implementing a static content coverage checker within Amazon is challenging given the limited amount of space, leading to customers leaving negative reviews when the tool doesn't fulfill their specific needs.
