FAQs
What are the flashing icons on the tools display?
The I/M MONITOR STATUS icons represent systems that are being tested by your vehicle for any possible faults. Monitors are special computer programs used by the vehicle’s computer to verify proper operation of specific emissions-related components or systems. Any flashing monitor indicates that testing is not completed for that specific monitor.

No, unfortunately, the recorded live data can only be viewed, graphed, and played back on the device itself.

All of our Innova diagnostic tools will work on heavy duty vehicles as long as they are OBD2 compliant. You can check whether the vehicle is OBD2 compliant by checking the emissions label on the roof of the hood or near the radiator.

This tool requires AA batteries (3) in order to have vehicle information stored and for powering on when not connected to a vehicle.
Definitions for all available DTCs (both Generic and Manufacturer-specific) can be accessed through the Innova website (www.innova.com). Go to the "Support" tab, choose DTC Library, and follow the on-screen instructions. Please enter P0 (zero), not Po when entering the codes.

We always recommend connecting the tool to your vehicle first, before turning on the ignition or starting the vehicle. So long as this procedure is followed, you can use the code reader on the vehicle while it is running.

IMPORTANT: If it is necessary to drive the vehicle while observing the data on the code readers display, ALWAYS have a second person to help you. One person should drive, while the second person observes the data on the tool.

Unfortunately, if the vehicle's engine is not in running condition, the tool will not be able to link to its ECU.

No. Innova’s code readers/scan tools are designed to retrieve information that is stored in your vehicle’s computer. With the exception of initiating the EVAP system Leak Test, O2 Test, and Non-Continuous Test (for vehicles that support these tests), the tools do not command, control, or otherwise, enter information to your vehicle. It is not possible for these tools to damage your vehicle’s electronic system.
The tool is powered by the vehicle’s accessory fuses. If the tool does not power on when you connect it to a vehicle, most likely, there is an accessory fuse blown. Replace that blown fuse to get the tool to successfully power on and connect.

The manual and software can be found in the same location, by clicking on the "Support" tab at the top of the page. Select "OBD2 Diagnostic Tools" for your product category, then select your model from the list. Click "Search" to view the software and/or manual for that specific device.
