The fact is that today, more people commute to work than ever before. Couple that with higher gas prices, and it’s no wonder people want to find ways to increase their gas mileage. To help you squeeze every last mile out of your fuel, we’ve come up with the following tips.
A wealth of important information is located within, such as: maintenance schedule, proper tire pressure, recommended type of fuel, etc.
Thirty to sixty seconds is usually sufficient, and anything beyond is typically a waste of fuel.
Newer cars may include this information on a decal in either the glove box, or on the inside of the driver’s door pillar. Use a good quality air pressure gauge to check tire air pressure, and add air if needed. Improper tire pressure can cause a significant drop in fuel efficiency.
Also, when buying oil, make sure the brand/type is labeled “Energy Conserving”. Add or change oil as necessary.
Replace the air filter according to the schedule provided in the owner's manual for your vehicle.
If due for a tune-up, replace or repair the necessary components as described in the owner’s manual.

Gathering speed slowly is much more fuel efficient than rapid acceleration. Take it easy and you’ll be fueling up less often.
Because each vehicle is different, there is no "correct" RPM range for everybody. Instead, try shifting in between the range where the vehicle would “bog down”, and where it would have a tendency to “lurch” forward. For most vehicles this falls between the mid 2000 and low 3000 RPM.
More often than not, the natural breeze that occurs is sufficient to keep you, and your passengers, cool. Likewise, once over 40 MPH it is often better to roll up the windows and turn on the A/C. The reason for this is the resistance created at higher speeds with open windows.
Not only is spilled gas "wasted gas", having a full tank increases the weight of the vehicle. More weight equals less MPG. If conditions permit, travel with as little as 1/8 ~ 1/2 of a tank. While you're at it, check your vehicle for unnecessary items (especially in the trunk) you may be carrying that could also be weighing you down.
