I’m having trouble connecting. Help?

If you’re having trouble connecting the 1000 dongle to our RepairSolutions2 (RS2) app, following the troubleshooting steps below:

  • Make sure the dongle is securely plugged in your OBD2 port. You should see a green light lit up. If the dongle doesn’t light up, it may indicate a blown accessory fuse.

  • Make sure your ignition is turned ON. Your cabin fans should start running. Alternatively, start your engine.

  • If all fails, plug the dongle out, turn off the vehicle, and try again.
Should I connect via Bluetooth?

Yes, but make sure you connect via Bluetooth within the RS2 app itself. Simply turn your phone’s Bluetooth setting ON and then return to the app.

If you attempt Bluetooth pairing outside of the app, it may cause connection issues. So make sure you follow the in-app instructions and pair with the Innova 1000 that way.

If you already paired to Bluetooth outside of the app, here’s how to undo it:

  • Unpair the dongle in your Bluetooth settings.
  • Keep your phone’s Bluetooth on.
  • Unplug and plug in your dongle. You should see a green light turn on and start blinking.
  • Open the RS2 app to complete the pairing process.
Do I need an internet connection?

Yes and no.

You do not need an internet connection for:

  • Reading and clearing fault codes
  • Accessing freeze frame data
  • Monitoring live data
  • Viewing check engine light status

However, there are certain functionalities that do require internet connection, such as:

  • Viewing repair reports
  • Inputting and decoding VIN
  • Viewing maintenance schedules
  • Viewing service status
  • Viewing vehicle recalls
  • Viewing technical service bulletins
  • Sharing reports online
  • Updating or downloading the firmware.

To get the most out of our products, we highly recommend using it with internet connectivity.

Do I need a subscription?

No! If you own the Innova 1000, you get premium access to all of RS2’s features and benefits. All software updates are 100% free as well.

The only optional in-app payment is if you’d like to request a Vehicle History Report (VHR). Getting a VHR usually costs between $25 ~ $45, but with us it is only $9.99.

Once again, this is 100% optional and we do not force you to purchase this. We only included this option as a gesture of appreciation to our users.

How do I update the dongle?

You can check for updates by opening the RS2 app and opening the side menu. If an update is available, we’ll prompt you to update the app. If it’s up-to-date, we’ll also let you know.

Does it work outside of the USA or Canada?

No. Neither the 1000 dongle nor the RS2 app will work outside of the United States of America or Canada.

I need help getting started?

Using the Innova 1000 is simple.

  • Plug the dongle into your car's OBD2 port
  • Download the RepairSolutions2 app, available on both iOS and android devices
  • Follow the in-app instructions

The app will guide you through the entire process, making it easy even if you're not familiar with car repairs.

How do I read and clear codes?

Reading and clearing fault codes is as easy as pressing a few buttons! Simply scan your vehicle via the app.

Once the vehicle is scanned and a report is generated, you’ll be given the option to erase the fault codes. We highly recommend doing this only after you’ve fixed the underlying issue.

Why can’t I erase codes?

It’s important to remember that not all fault codes are the same. If your vehicle has common fault codes (such as active, confirmed, current, or stored codes), they can be erased at any time.

However, codes with higher severity levels (such as permanent codes) cannot be erased easily. This applies not only to Innova scanners, but all OBD2 scanners; it is mandated by law.

To erase permanent codes, you need to fix the underlying issue, drive your vehicle for a certain number of miles, and ensure your vehicle passes specific monitors.

Will it work on my vehicle?

The Innova 1000 works on all vehicles manufactured in the United States or Canada after 1996. It works on all domestic, Asian, and European vehicles. However, available features may vary depending on the year, make, and model.

How can the Innova 1000 save me money?

What if I have trouble understanding the results?

Our app translates complex car data into simple terms, offering suggestions and solutions you can understand.

You also have the option to export your vehicle scan and ask others for their opinion based on your vehicle’s current status. Maybe your handy neighbor can give his/her opinion, or you can ask Reddit/forums for their opinion.
