Does It Really Not Require Account Registration?

Does It Really Not Require Internet Connection?

Yes, all Innova handheld scanners do not require internet connection. All of our diagnostic data is already installed inside the device, so you’ll be able to diagnose your vehicle even if you’re stuck in the middle of the desert.

That said, there are two optional scenarios when an internet connection would be required.

For Firmware Updates

For RS2 App Usage

If you’d like to use our RepairSolutions2 (RS2) app or if you’re using our dongle (the Innova 1000), it does require an internet connection for full access to its features. The app is connected to our online database, which tells you how to fix specific DTCs based on vehicle scan results.

We do have an "offline mode" you can utilize to view information related to your ECM/PCM/TCM or I/M monitors and view live data, but that's pretty much it. If you'd like more information about our offline mode, click here.

It’s a 100% optional app for handheld OBD2 devices. It’s also completely free.

Does It Really Not Require Batteries?

Yes, all of our scan tools power on through the vehicle’s accessory fuses. There’s no need to replace batteries or charge the device. You can even leave your scan tool in the glovebox for 2 years, and as long as there is no physical damage to the device, it should power up perfectly fine.

The only times the device won’t power on is if the accessory fuse is blown or if the car won’t start (due to a dead battery, bad alternator, or others).

Anything Else I Should Know About?

Innova only sells brand-new products to its customers. But sometimes, depending on how harsh the shipping was handled, the screen may appear scratched.

But rest assured. All scanners are equipped with a thin, almost hard-to-see screen protector. Once you peel it off, it’ll look brand new.
