How to Use the Front Wipers and Washers

Warning

Important Note About Washer Fluid Usage

If the temperature outside is below freezing, make sure to use the defroster to warm the windshield. This will help prevent the washer fluid from freezing on the glass, which could block your view and potentially lead to an accident, causing serious injury or even death.

Important Note About Front Wipers Usage

  • To avoid damaging the washer pump, ensure the fluid reservoir is not empty before using the washer.
  • To protect the wipers and windshield, refrain from using the wipers on a dry windshield.
  • To prevent harm to the wiper arms and other parts, do not try to move the wipers by hand.

Operation of the Front Wipers

The front wipers are activated by moving the control lever to specific positions. The control lever functions as described when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position:

A: Adjusting the wiper speed

  • MIST (Momentary Mode): To activate a single wipe, push the lever upward and then release it. If you hold the lever in this position, the wipers will continue to operate.
  • OFF: This mode turns off the windshield wipers completely.
  • INT (Intermittent Mode): The wipers function intermittently at consistent intervals. To adjust the speed, turn the speed control knob (B).
  • LO (Low-Speed Mode): The wipers move at a steady, slow speed.
  • HI (High-Speed Mode): The wipers function at a fast, continuous speed.

B: Adjusting the wipe interval for Intermittent or Auto mode

C: Wash with short wipes

NOTE: If there is a significant buildup of snow or ice on the windshield, defrost it for approximately 10 minutes, or until the snow and ice are cleared, before using the windshield wipers to ensure they function correctly.

Windshield Washer Operation

Windshield Washer Operation

When the switch is in the OFF position, gently pull the lever towards you to dispense washer fluid onto the windshield and activate the wipers for 1-3 cycles. Use this feature whenever the windshield is dirty. The spray and wipers will continue working until you release the lever.

NOTE: If the washer isn’t functioning, check the washer fluid level. If it is low, refill the washer reservoir with suitable non-abrasive windshield washer fluid. The filler neck for the reservoir is located at the front of the engine compartment, on the passenger side.
