LDW System Overview

The LDW system uses a forward-facing camera sensor to detect lane markings when driving at speeds of 35 mph (56 km/h)or higher.
WARNING
The LDW system does not steer the vehicle or guarantee collision prevention. Additionally, it may not detect lane markings or provide sufficient warning in the following scenarios:
- Poor weather or visibility, such as during heavy rain, fog, or snow.
- Obstructed or dirty windshield or headlamps.
- Bright sunlight directly affecting the camera sensor.
- Winding, hilly, or poorly marked roads.
If lane markings are detected on one side only, warnings will only be provided for departures on that side of the vehicle.
You must remain attentive, maintain proper lane positioning, and keep the windshield, camera sensors, and headlamps clean and in good condition. Avoid using the LDW system in adverse weather conditions.
How the LDW System Works
The LDW system’s camera sensor is mounted on the windshield, just ahead of the rearview mirror.
Activating and Deactivating LDW:
Press the LANE DEPART button on the steering wheel to turn the system on or off. When active, the LANE DEPART indicator displays as follows:
- Green Icon: The system is ready and can warn of lane departures.
- Amber Flashing Icon: The system detects a lane departure without the use of a turn signal. This is accompanied by three audible beeps on the side corresponding to the departure direction.
When the LDW System May Not Operate Properly
The system’s lane detection may be compromised under the following conditions:
- Vehicles ahead are too close.
- Sudden changes in lighting, such as entering or exiting tunnels.
- Banked or uneven roads.
If lane markings are clearly visible but the system does not seem to function, cleaning the windshield can improve performance.
Note:
The system may occasionally issue alerts due to:
- Road imperfections, such as tar marks, cracks, or shadows.
- Temporary or construction lane markings.
This behavior is normal and does not indicate a malfunction. If such conditions persist, consider turning the system off temporarily.
