Introduction
The door locks on the 2015 Hyundai Veloster are designed to enhance security and convenience for the driver and passengers. Operating the door locks from outside the vehicle ensures the vehicle remains secured when parked and allows for easy access when needed. The system includes features such as keyless entry and manual locking mechanisms, providing multiple options for locking and unlocking the doors. This article provides a comprehensive, step-by-step guide on how to operate the door locks from outside your 2015 Hyundai Veloster L4 1.6L, ensuring ease of use and optimal functionality.
Feature Guide
Operating door locks from outside the vehicle

- Turn the key backward to unlock and forward to lock the vehicle.
- If you use a key to lock the door, all the vehicle doors will lock automatically (if equipped).
- From the driver’s door, turn the key backward once to unlock the driver’s door and a second time within 4 seconds to unlock all doors (if equipped).
- The doors can also be locked and unlocked using the transmitter (or smart key).
- After the doors are unlocked, you can open them by pulling the door handle.
- To close the door, push it by hand and ensure that it is securely closed.
NOTE:
- In cold and damp climates, freezing conditions may cause the door locks and mechanisms to function improperly.
- If the door is locked or unlocked repeatedly in quick succession using either the vehicle key or door lock switch, the system may temporarily stop working to protect the circuit and prevent damage to the components.
Unlock mode conversion (if equipped)
To change the system to unlock all doors, turn the key to the right once. If you want to enable this feature (central door unlock mode), press both the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 4 seconds or more. The hazard warning lights will blink four times to signal that the mode change is complete.
WARNING:
- If the door is not closed properly, it may reopen.
- Make sure that no one’s body or hands get trapped when closing the door.
In case of an emergency
If the power door lock switch is not working, the only way to lock the door(s) is by using the ignition key in the outside keyhole.
For doors without an outside keyhole, you can lock the door using the folowing method:
1. Open the door.
2. Lock the doors by pressing each lock button.
3. Make sure to close the door securely.
If the power door lock switch is not working, once the tailgate is closed, you will not be able to open it.
NOTE:
Always remove the ignition key, engage the parking brake, close all windows, and lock all doors when leaving your vehicle unattended.
