Introduction

The tailgate of a vehicle is an essential component, providing convenient access to the cargo area for loading and unloading items. In the 2015 Hyundai Veloster L4 1.6L, the tailgate is designed for easy operation, combining practicality and efficiency. Proper use of the tailgate ensures safety and prevents potential damage to the vehicle. This guide provides a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to operate the tailgate of your Hyundai Veloster.

How to Operate the Tail Gate

Opening the tailgate

  • The tailgate locks or unlocks when all doors are locked or unlocked using the key, remote, smart key, or central door lock/unlock switch.
  • If all doors are locked and you press the tailgate unlock button on the smart key for longer than one second, the tailgate unlocks. After opening and closing the tailgate, it automatically locks again.

  • Avoid operating the tailgate while jacking up the vehicle for tire changes or repairs, as this may cause the tailgate to close incorrectly.

WARNING:

  • Avoid placing any items on the covering shelf. In the event of a sudden stop or sharp turn, these objects could become projectiles and potentially injure occupants.
  • Be cautious of the covering shelf's edge when using the luggage area to avoid potential injury.

Closing the tailgate

WARNING:

  • Exhaust Gases - Driving with the tailgate open can draw harmful exhaust gases into your vehicle, posing a serious risk of injury or even death to occupants. If you need to drive with the tailgate open, ensure that all air vents and windows are open to allow fresh air to circulate inside the vehicle.
  • Rear Cargo Area - Passengers should never travel in the rear cargo area where there are no seat belts. To prevent injuries during accidents or sudden stops, all occupants should be securely restrained at all times.
