In modern vehicles, the "Remote Transmitter" is a common convenience feature, particularly in the 2012 Ford Fusion. This feature allows drivers to easily control various vehicle functions remotely, such as locking and unlocking the doors, opening the trunk, and activating the panic alarm. The remote transmitter simplifies the process of accessing your vehicle, especially when your hands are full or when you're in a hurry. Additionally, it provides an added layer of security by ensuring that only the authorized remote can control the vehicle's functions. This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to use the remote transmitter for your 2012 Ford Fusion L4 2.5L.

The Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) lets you:

Note: The typical operating range for your IKT is approximately 33 feet (10 meters). A reduction in range may be caused by weather conditions, proximity to radio towers, nearby structures around the vehicle, or other cars parked next to your vehicle.

Door Unlocking
1. Press unlock key and release to unlock the driver's door. The interior lights will turn on.
2. Press unlock key and release again within five seconds to unlock all the doors.
The remote entry system activates the illuminated entry feature, which keeps the lights on for 25 seconds or until the ignition is turned on. The battery saver automatically turns the lights off 30 minutes after the ignition is switched off.
You can disable or re-enable the two-stage unlocking by pressing both the lock key and unlock key buttons on the IKT simultaneously for four seconds (disabling it allows all doors to unlock at once). The turn signal lights will blink twice to confirm whether two-stage unlocking has been enabled or disabled.
Front Windows and Moonroof Operation
You can open the vehicle's front windows and, if equipped, vent the moonroof using the unlock key control on the transmitter.
Door Locking
1. Press lock key and release to secure all doors. The turn signal lights will blink.
2. Press lock key and release again within three seconds to verify that all doors are shut.
Note: When all doors and the trunk are properly closed, the doors will lock again, the horn will sound, and the turn signals will blink once.
Note: If any door, trunk, or the hood (on vehicles with the perimeter alarm feature) is open, the horn will sound twice, and the lights will not blink.
Car Finder Feature
Press lock key twice within three seconds. The horn will honk, and the turn signal lights will flash. It is recommended to use this feature to locate your vehicle instead of the panic alarm.
Panic Alarm Feature
Press sound key to trigger the alarm. The horn will honk, and the turn signal lights will flash for up to three minutes. To stop the alarm, press again, turn the ignition to the on position, or wait for the alarm to automatically turn off after three minutes.
Note: The panic alarm will only work when the ignition is in the off position.
Trunk Opening
Press trunk opening key twice within three seconds to open the trunk.
Note: Make sure the trunk is securely closed and latched before driving. Failing to properly latch the trunk may result in items falling out or obstructing the driver's rear view.
