In modern vehicles, the “Parking Assist” feature is a widely available technology designed to enhance both convenience and safety. The Parking Assist feature in your Chevrolet Equinox provides you with guidance when parking, making it easier to navigate tight spaces or crowded parking lots. This feature is particularly beneficial for vehicles such as the Equinox, which are versatile and commonly used in urban settings where parking spaces can be limited. By reducing the stress of parking and lowering the risk of minor accidents, Parking Assist improves the overall driving experience. This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to use the Parking Assist feature in your 2015 Chevrolet Equinox L4 2.4L.

The Parking Assist feature is limited in its ability to identify certain obstacles. It cannot sense children, pedestrians, cyclists, animals, or items located below the bumper. Additionally, objects that are either too close or too far from the vehicle may not be detected. This system is inactive when the vehicle’s speed exceeds 8 km/h (5 mph).
To avoid accidents, injuries, or damage to your vehicle, it is essential to visually inspect the surroundings and use all mirrors to check for potential hazards before reversing, even when relying on Parking Assist.
How the System Works
The Rear Parking Assist (RPA) activates when the gear is shifted to R (Reverse), with a single beep signaling its operation. The feature works at speeds under 8 km/h (5 mph) only. If an obstacle is detected, beeping alerts sound, becoming faster as the vehicle approaches the obstacle. When the distance is less than 30 cm (12 in), the beeping is continuous for five seconds.
Activating and Deactivating the System
The RPA system is controlled through the infotainment system.
Note: The "On with Tow Bar Attached" option ensures the system functions properly when a small item is connected to the trailer hitch.
When the system is turned off, the Driver Information Center (DIC) displays "PARK ASSIST OFF," which disappears after a short time. By default, RPA is activated each time the vehicle is started.
Note: Be sure to turn off the RPA system when towing a trailer.
