Child Safety Locks Feature Overview

Child safety locks are designed to prevent rear-seat passengers, especially children, from opening the rear doors from inside the vehicle, enhancing overall safety.

The safety locks are electronically controlled via a dedicated switch located on the instrument panel. The operation of the locks is straightforward and can be toggled on or off by pressing a button, offering both convenience and reliability.

Note: Base radio equipped vehicle is illustrated, higher model trims are identical.

Basic Controls and Operation

Follow these steps to activate and deactivate the safety locks:

1. Locate the child safety lock button on the instrument panel.

2. Press the button once to activate the child safety locks.

  • When activated, an amber indicator light illuminates on the switch, confirming the locks are engaged.
  • Rear-seat passengers will no longer be able to open the rear doors from the inside.

Note: The child safety locks operate independently of the central locking system. While central locking secures all doors, activating child safety locks ensures rear doors remain locked from the inside regardless of the central lock status.

3. Press the child safety lock button again to deactivate the safety locks.

  • The amber indicator light turns off, signaling that the locks are disengaged.
  • Rear-seat passengers can now open the rear doors from the inside.

Note: If a rear door handle is pulled when the safety lock is deactivated, that door will remain locked and the indicator light may flash. Release the handle, then press the safety lock twice to fully deactivate the safety locks.
