Procedure

1. Using the door lock button

Using the door lock button
  • To unlock the door, slide the door lock button (1) to the "Unlock" position (the red mark (2) on the button will be visible).
  • To lock the door, slide the door lock button (1) to the "Lock" position (the red mark (2) on the button will not be visible).
  • To open a door, pull the door handle (3) outward.
  • If the inner door handle of the driver’s or front passenger’s door is pulled while the door lock button is in the locked position, the button will unlock, and the door will open.
  • The front doors cannot be locked if the key is in the ignition switch and a front door is open.
  • The doors cannot be locked if the smart key is inside the vehicle and any door is open.

Notice:

If a power door lock fails to operate while you are inside the vehicle, try one or more of the following methods to exit:

  • Repeatedly operate the door unlock feature (both electronic and manual) while pulling on the door handle simultaneously.
  • Try operating the other door locks and handles, both front and rear. Alternately, lower a front window and use the mechanical key to unlock the door from the outside.

2. Using the central door lock switch (if equipped):

Using the central door lock switch

Press the lock button (1) of the central door lock switch to lock all the vehicle doors.

  • If the key is in the ignition switch and any door is open, pressing the lock button (1) on the central door lock switch will not lock the doors.
  • If the smart key is inside the vehicle and any door is open, pressing the lock button (1) on the central door lock switch will not lock the doors.

Press the unlock button (2) of the central door lock switch to unlock all the vehicle doors.

Warning:

  • The doors should always be securely closed and locked while the vehicle is moving. If the doors are unlocked, the risk of being ejected from the vehicle in the event of a crash is higher.
  • Never leave children or animals unattended in your vehicle. An enclosed vehicle can become dangerously hot, leading to death or serious injury to unattended children or animals who cannot exit the vehicle. Children may activate vehicle features that could harm them, or they may be exposed to other dangers, such as someone gaining access to the vehicle.
  • Leaving your vehicle unlocked increases the risk of harm to you or others from someone potentially hiding inside the vehicle.
  • To secure your vehicle, press the brake, shift the lever to the P (Park) position (for automatic transaxle) or to first gear or R (Reverse, for manual transaxle), engage the parking brake, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF position, close all windows, lock all doors, and always take the key with you.
  • Opening a door while something is approaching may result in damage or injury. Be cautious when opening doors and keep an eye out for vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, or pedestrians approaching in the door’s path.

3. Auto door lock features

For models equipped with Speed-sensing door lock system:

All doors will automatically lock once the vehicle speed exceeds 9 mph (15 km/h).
