The sunroof in the 2016 Hyundai Elantra L4 1.8L is designed to provide drivers with an enhanced driving experience, offering fresh air and natural light with the simple push of a button. This feature lets you easily control the amount of light and air entering the cabin, providing an optimal atmosphere for you and your passengers. Proper use of the sunroof can significantly improve your overall driving experience by offering a sense of freedom and a connection to the outside world. This guide provides a detailed step-by-step overview of how to operate the sunroof in your 2016 Hyundai Elantra.

Note: The ignition switch must be in the ON position to open or close the sunroof.

Push the sunroof control lever backward to the first detent position. Release the switch to stop the sunroof.

Push the sunroof control lever forward to the first detent position. Release the switch to stop the sunroof.

Warning:
Momentarily pressing the sunroof control lever backward or forward to the second detent position will fully open or close the sunroof, even after the switch is released. To stop the sunroof at the desired position while it’s in motion, press the sunroof control lever backward or forward and then release the switch.
NOTE: To minimize wind noise while driving, it is recommended to drive with the sunroof slightly closed, stopping about 2 inches (5 cm) before the maximum open position.

If the sunroof encounters an obstruction while closing automatically, it reverses direction and stops to allow the object to clear.
