What USB cable is compatible with my computer for updates?

Make sure to use a USB data cable when updating your diagnostic tool, and not just a USB charging cable. If using a USB data cable, you'll get the message Tool status: Connected. If there is an update available, you'll see the prompt Update my tool now. If using a USB charging cable, you'll get the message Tool status: Disconnected, with no updates available.

PCs

Models: 5110/3020RS, 3030RS, 5210/3040RS/6030P, 5310/3100RS/6100P, and 5312 use a micro USB type B data cable.

Models: 5410/3130RS, 5510/3160RS, 5512/3170RS, 5610/5160RS, and 5300LAT use a mini USB type B data cable.
