Introduction
The moonroof in your 2015 Toyota Camry offers a delightful way to connect with the outdoors while you drive. This feature provides a panoramic view of the sky, allowing you to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Operating the moonroof is simple and intuitive. The controls for the moonroof are typically located on the overhead console. To open the moonroof, simply press the appropriate button. You can choose to open it partially or fully, depending on your preference. To close the moonroof, press the same button again. Additionally, you can tilt the moonroof for ventilation without fully opening it. This feature is especially useful during warm weather or when you want to let in some fresh air without exposing yourself to the elements. By utilizing the moonroof, you can enhance your driving experience and create a more enjoyable atmosphere within your vehicle.
Procedure
Safety Precautions for Moonroof Operation
1. Opening the Moonroof:
- Never allow passengers to extend any body parts outside the vehicle while it's in motion.
- Do not sit or stand on the moonroof.
2. Closing the Moonroof:
- The driver is solely responsible for operating the moonroof.
- Prevent accidental operation, especially by children. Never allow children to operate the moonroof.
- Ensure passenger safety. Always check that no passengers have any body parts in a position where they could be caught during moonroof operation.
Exercise caution with remote controls. When using the remote control, key, or mechanical key to operate the moonroof, always verify that no passengers are at risk of being caught. Prioritize safety when exiting the vehicle.
3. Jam Protection Function:
- Avoid intentional activation. Never use your body to deliberately trigger the jam protection function.
- Limitations of jam protection. The jam protection function may not be effective if an object becomes caught just before the moonroof fully closes.
How to set/use the feature
Opening the Moonroof:
- Press the moonroof switche on the ceiling of the vehicle. The moonroof will open partially to reduce wind noise (Initial Opening).
- Press the switch again to fully open the moonroof (Full Opening).
Closing the Moonroof:
- Lightly press either side of the moonroof switch to stop the moonroof in a partially closed position (Partially Close).
- Press and hold the switch until the moonroof is completely closed (Fully Close).

Tilt up and down:
To operate the moonroof, use the control panel located on the overhead console.
- To tilt the moonroof up: Press the switch labeled "1" (with the upward-pointing arrow).
- To tilt the moonroof down: Press the switch labeled "2" (with the downward-pointing arrow).
- To stop the moonroof in any position: Lightly press either side of the switch being used.

The moonroof can be operated under the following conditions:
- For vehicles without a smart key system: When the engine switch is in the "ON" position.
- For vehicles with a smart key system: When the engine switch is in the "IGNITION ON" mode.
Operating the moon roof after turning the engine off:
After turning the engine off or switching to accessory mode, the moonroof remains operable for approximately 45 seconds. Please note that once either front door is opened, the moonroof will automatically deactivate.
Jam protection function:
If an object is placed between the moonroof and its frame while it's closing or tilting downward, the moonroof will automatically pause and then slightly reverse its motion.
Operate the Sunshade:
The sunshade can be operated manually. Nevertheless, it is designed to automatically deploy when the moonroof is engaged.
When the moon roof does not close normally:
If the moonroof malfunctions and reopens after closing, take the following actions:
1. Bring the vehicle to a complete stop.
2. Press and hold the "CLOSE" switch.
3. The moonroof will initiate a sequence of movements: it will close, pause briefly, reopen slightly, pause again, tilt upward, pause once more, and finally tilt down and close completely.
4. After the moonroof has finished its cycle and is fully closed, release the "CLOSE" switch.
If the moonroof malfunctions and tilts back up after tilting down, take the following actions:
1. Bring the vehicle to a complete stop.
2. Press and hold the "UP" switch until the moonroof reaches its fully tilted-up position.
3. Release the "UP" switch and then press and hold it again.
4. The moonroof will initiate a sequence of movements, including pausing and slight adjustments.
5. After the moonroof has finished its cycle and is fully closed, release the "UP" switch.
If you release the switch after the 10-second pause, the automatic operation will stop. To continue, press and hold the close switch or the "UP" switch. The moonroof will then go through a final cycle of tilting up, pausing, tilting down, opening, and closing.
Should the moonroof remain incompletely closed, despite the accurate execution of the aforementioned procedures, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Toyota dealer.
Moon roof open warning buzzer:
Should the driver's door be opened with the moonroof in the open position and the engine switched off, an audible alert will sound, and a corresponding message will be displayed on the multi-information display within the instrument cluster.
